David Seymour

David joins us from the beautiful countryside of Kent, England, hailing from a village called Goudhurst. For those TDF followers amongst you, this was known as the Cote de Goudhurst in the 2007 tour - Stage 1 hit the "Cote de Goundhurst" a 1.6km climb to 5.3% - Cat 4 - http://www.letour.fr/2007/TDF/LIVE/us/100/etape_par_etape.html - in my distant memory from climbing it, not all that bad !

An early biking memory is of BMX type bikes grazing my knees and generally running amuck round the village, trying to avoid crashing into the village pond! My second memory is weekly visits to Rye, cruising round the flatlands in the summer on and taking picnics on friends boats in the dusty, summer months.

Recent years have seen an absence of cycling activity due to the inconvenience of work, and working in such locations as Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Aberdeen, Scotland; London, England; New York and of course Bakersfield.

Agreeing to ride from London to Paris, in retrospect, seems a foolhardy decision, though I still have some 9 months to train for it, hopefully some miles around Bakersfield will see me ready, though perhaps not for the cobbles in Paris !

Special thanks to all those kind enough to ensure my handlebars are secure, that I know where the bumps and danger areas in the road are and that I’m not hopelessly lost in the hills around Kern County.

Cheers,

David.
