The basic ride from Caliente to/from Twin Oaks is great for "real" SS. Faster? Doubles training? Think about starting from Rio Bravo or Edison Fire Station, doing White Wolf on the way to Caliente. Do Lions Trail and Walker Basin CW? Or, ride on up to Twin Oaks then do them CCW. Come back via White Wolf or Bena Rd. Miles/Climb?
START: Caliente Post Office, Caliente, CA
PEDAL: @ 0800, to get to the restaurant while you can still get the Breakfast Menu.
WEAR: Bright Jersey and use lights to give motorists as much reaction time as possible. Road is curvy.
ROUTE: Right out of PO. Stay right at fork (Lions Trail).
DISTANT: 31 miles
Avg SPD: 10 mph
CLIMB: 1700'
WIND: Maybe head winds both directions.
COWS: Don't scare the cows. Don't get between Moma and kids. You don't know which way they will run. One SS T-Boned a cow.
RESTSTOP: Restaurant at Twin Oaks (Only Pit Stop also)
